On January 30, the U.S. Trade Representative announced the U.S. has signed an Agreement on Reciprocal Trade with Guatemala following the initial announcement of a completed deal on November 13. The agreement establishes a baseline 10% reciprocal tariff, applied in addition to standard MFN duties on U.S. imports from Guatemala, and includes the specific tariff exemptions described below.
Textiles, apparel, made-ups, headwear, travel goods and certain other products (see Schedule 2 starting on pg. I-73 for the complete list) that qualify for preferential treatment under the Dominican Republic–Central America–United States Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR) are exempted from the 10% reciprocal tariff.
Certain aircraft, agricultural, industrial, and pharmaceutical products are also exempt from the 10% reciprocal tariff.
The deal will be implemented thirty days after both parties submit written notification to each other of the completion of their respective applicable legal procedures, or on such other date as the Parties may decide.
